| Summary: | Return to Learn Matrix
The Administration recommends approval of the Return to Learn matrix for the following reasons:
- We believe that given the instability that COVID-19 has thrust upon the schools this year, we should seek stability where possible. Parents and community are familiar with the approach represented by the current matrix and have “lived” with it since the beginning of school. Changing at this point would likely add to parental confusion about our plan to address the situation.
- The matrix is built on the best data available from the most reliable sources available. Our core technology as an education institution is teaching and learning, not epidemiology. As such, it is only logical that we pay heed to the best advice from those with specialized knowledge in this area, and our matrix reflects that advice. (That’s not to say that we don’t apply judgement to specific circumstances and that we will continue to use the matrix as a guide rather than a set of rules to be applied without judgement. We will continue to consider all of the factors of a specific situation when making decisions about appropriate learning modalities.)
- There are no dramatic changes in our data that would suggest a change in our decision-making process is needed at this time.
